Welcome to the chronicle of the dumbest project I’ve yet undertaken, and that includes dating a lawyer and working at several startups.

Last year some friends and I built a C10 Chevy pickup for the 24 Hours of LeMons. Amazingly it worked out pretty well, and at Reno (then the closest Lemons race to Denver) We had one of the more unique vehicles, it didn’t break, and we finished 20th.  So I got the bug for crappy car racing.

So, why not recycle some of the junk I’ve still got from  prior car projects and put it together into something really unique?

Really unique? In October I placed an ad on Craigslist that I was looking for a weird microcar from the 50’s  or 60’s, and rattled off every car (Crosley, Simca, Gogomobil, etc) that I could think of. The post was repeatedly flagged by some jerk who felt I had offended the automotive universe, but a lone gentleman came through and answered my WTB post. Long story short, I now have a Renault 4CV with some really great “patina.”

Getting this done in time for Chumpcar (March 27-28 at Pueblo, you’re entering right?!) will be a long shot, but I’ll see what I can do.

The vague plan is to build a really cool go-cart for budget road racing, and after that it will probably get improvements and pressed into service for solo, track days, maybe even a hillclimb.

Thanks for stopping by!
